Pastoral Policy at the OPS
- To respect each child as an individual and to give each child the confidence and self-esteem to develop his or her talents to the full.
- To develop the whole child intellectually, morally, socially, spiritually and physically.
- To develop an effective three-way partnership between children, parents and school.
- As a Catholic school, to offer the experience of living in a Christian community and to encourage a personal relationship with God through prayer and participation in worship.
In the prep school, the pastoral team consists of Mr C. Sexon, Senior Master i/c the boys, and Mrs C. Vaux, Senior mistress i/c the girls, who oversee the work of the whole tutorial team.
Pastoral care is of the highest importance. If a child follows two important rules:
be kind to one another
always do your best
they develop into caring, confident young people with the self-esteem to develop their talents to the full. All children know these rules and their importance in the life of the school.

The Oratory Preparatory School provides :
- A safe, friendly and secure environment
- A place where all have a sense of responsibility
- A place where all members of the community have a clear understanding of the school rules
- A place where positive behaviour is encouraged and recognised
- A community which fosters mutual respect
- An environment in which no child is hindered in any way from achieving his/her full potential.
The children who make up this school are lively, enthusiastic and caring. In school we can all see many examples of their care, enthusiasm and commitment. They contribute an enormous amount and we aim to applaud and recognise their contributions.
Year 8 meet regularly to discuss their duties and issues that arise. The Prefects meet with Mr Sexon and Mrs Vaux fortnightly or when the need arises. Year 8 are invited to a formal tea each term in recognition of the responsibility they have within the school. Every Y8 child will have the opportunity to have some responsibility during the course of the year. Y8 prefects meet before the beginning of the school year for induction.
